Event description

Mozart’s Sister: Join the Fun and Make a Difference!

Did you know that only 18% of composers in Australia are women? Even more startling, only 17% of music released on commercial radio is by female artists. It’s time to change these stats!

On November 3rd, join us for a special afternoon event featuring Mozart’s Sister, a powerful documentary that shines a light on the incredible but overlooked talent of Maria-Anna Mozart. Once celebrated alongside her brother, Wolfgang, Maria-Anna was forced out of the limelight due to societal constraints on women. This documentary by award-winning director Madeleine Hetherton-Miau uncovers her story and the challenges faced by female composers throughout history.

Event Highlights:

  • 3:30 PM: Inspiring performances by The House Ensemble and Toy Choir
  • 4:00 PM: Exclusive screening of Mozart’s Sister
  • 5:30 PM: Engaging discussion with director Madeleine Hetherton-Miau and documentary film-maker Justine Moyle, and a panel of trailblazing female filmmakers and composers, hosted by Danielle O’Keefe
  • 6:00 PM: Celebrate with a drink in the foyer!

By attending this compelling event, you’ll support both the creators of this vital film and The House that Dan Built, which is dedicated to empowering female voices in the arts. Together, we can elevate the representation of women in music and create a future where 50% of composers are women, reflecting the diversity of our society.

Tickets:

  • Event Only: $35/$26
  • Event + Popcorn + Drink: $45

Don’t miss your chance to have fun while making a difference! Join us to celebrate and SAY THEIR NAMES!
