ABOUT OUR GROUP:  The South East Melbourne MP Engagement Group is part of Climate for Change community actions Â
GROUP PURPOSE:
We will help you find out who your MP is, how to contact them and tips on writing to them. We will support you in writing, meeting prep and attendance.
We:
- provide support for other groups to engage with MPs, using Climate for Change (C4C) framework/resources
- are supportive of other action groups in the areas
- welcome requests from other groups in engaging their MPs
- build a collection of resources (additional to the C4C ones)
WHAT TO BRING TO OUR MEETINGS:
- Your computer/device to take actions or access resources (internet provided)
- A plant-based plate to share or your own dinner
- Water bottle
We have a new government, and we need to make sure they know that we want serious and urgent action on climate change, that we're watching and that we support them to be stronger than their pre-election commitments. Â
It's easy to say "I'll write to my MP", but we often don't get around to it - so here's your chance to get motivated and write to your MP, with support, and have some fun at the same time. Â
This session is for you if:
- You want to see greater political backing for action on climate change
- You haven't contacted an MP about this issue for a while, or ever
- You feel like you want to contribute to action on climate change but just need a supportive nudge!
What to expect:
- An semi-structured workshop hosted by Climate for Change volunteer facilitators
- A reminder of some of the current issues relating to climate change in the political arena
- Great resources for how to contact your MPs including briefing notes on different topics and template emails
- Our own South East suburbs focus, so we can chat about any local issues and say hi to familiar faces
- The session includes time for individual work time, for writing emails to MPs, with a facilitator to help with any queries.
- MORE INFO ABOUT MPEGSÂ and other locations
