Moving Pieces Theatre Co. is thrilled to debut our first company production in April 2026 with The Goat! Albee's Tony-award winning and Pulitzer Prize finalist play has provided an rich opportunity for our director Georgia Campbell and full creative team to explore the processes of theatre making, and we are so excited for you to see it.
'The Goat or, Who is Sylvia' follows a middle-aged Martin, and his family, in crisis: Martin is engaged in an adulterous affair and everyone is figuring it out. With a wife in denial, a sexually-complex son, and a family friend who cannot mind his own business, the suburban father is challenged with saving his way of life. Or, perhaps, tearing it apart? This is a play of taboo, of tragedy, and of distinct moral judgement.
We acknowledge Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the lands, waterways and skies where this production was rehearsed and staged. We offer our respects to their Elders, past and present, and to all members of their community. Moving Pieces Theatre Co. is privileged to develop our creative practice on land with a storytelling traditions tens of thousands of years old. Sovereignty was never ceded, and we recognise that this production was facilitated by the use of stolen land.
