Event description
MSG – led by Brisbane/Gold Coast based Trombonist Mikael Strand – was formed in 2023 and is inspired by the Hard Bop and Soul Jazz movement. The group showcases original compositions and arrangements from artists such as Horace Silver, Oliver Nelson, Art Blakey and others.
Mikael Strand has performed, recorded and toured with the likes James Morrison, Don Burrows, Renee Geyer, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Jerry Lewis, Ingrid Jensen, Jim Pugh, Mad Professor, The Saints, Kate Miller-Heidke, Kristin Berardi, Hot 8 Brass Band, Bullhorn, West End Composers Collective, The Doch Gypsy Orchestra, Ash Grunwald, and many other nationally and internationally renowned artists and groups.
Featuring a stellar line-up of some of Brisbane’s finest musicians, including Carl Harvoe on Trumpet, Andrew Ball on Saxophone, Eden Armstrong on Piano, Elliott Parker on Bass, and Mitch Bellert on Drums, this event is not to be missed.
