Tue, 2 Sep, 10pm - 10:30pm EDT

Event description

Speaking up for your child in hospital can feel overwhelming — especially in stressful, high-pressure situations.

In this panel, parents Pam and Nerida share their real-life insights into navigating the medical system and learning to trust their instincts, especially when things didn’t feel right. From planned admissions to unexpected emergencies, they’ll talk openly about what helped them find their voice and what they wish they’d known earlier.

We’ll explore
• Planning ahead for hospital stays, what to ask for and what to expect
• How to advocate for your child’s unique needs around procedures and equipment
• Asking questions and challenging decisions when needed, because you know your child best

More about the speakers

Pam is a mum of four, including Christopher who was born with CMV and has complex medical needs. She treasures the everyday moments of family life and is devoted to walking alongside other parents with empathy, strength, and care.

Nerida is mum to 17 year old Madison and a passionate advocate for rare diseases, disability and inclusion. She proudly shares her voice through media and conversations with decision-makers at all levels of government, with several charitable organisations, her local council, and the children’s hospital.
