Are you teaching a mid-year intake of Receptions? Are you currently teaching in the Early Years of Primary school?
Do you want to build your understandings and repertoire of practical strategies for taking a playful pedagogical stance in your teaching?
This mini-course is for YOU!
During the early years of primary school, a child learns SO much. Not the least, they develop a learning identity - as someone who is a learner or someone who feels they aren't good at it. They learn what school is about and form ideas about whether it is a place they like to be - or not.
In this mini-course, we ask, "Are schools really making themselves ready to welcome the young children and their families?"
This interactive mini-course will explore:
- A competent, strengths-based image of the child and what this means for our pedagogical decisions.
- The characteristics of a playful pedagogy and the kinds of playful learning contexts we can create for children to learn and grow.
- The importance of wellbeing and attachment to supporting children in making successful transitions.
- The role of executive functions and learning dispositions in learning and how these are developed through play.
- How literacy and numeracy goals can be achieved through a playful pedagogical stance.
