Your River, Your Music: Muddy River Festival reclaims the Cooks River through sound, stories and community

The Muddy River Festival returns to the banks of Our Backyard River - the Cooks River

- on Saturday 28 March 2026, inviting the community to gather for an afternoon of

music, culture and connection at Marrickville Golf Club from 2pm to 7pm.

This free, family-friendly festival brings together local artists, youth performers, and

community organisations to celebrate the Cooks River while raising awareness of its

complex history, and inspiring neighbouring communities to participate in its care and

revitalisation.

The aim of Muddy River Festival is to connect, educate and inspire people with the life-

force of the Cooks River through heart, head and hands, fostering emotional connection, understanding, and active participation in the river’s care.
