    Event description

Refugee Week: Multicultural Poetry Slam — Finding Freedom

Join us for a magical night of poetry, where we will hear from local storytellers as they share their stories of resilience, strength, and unity through poetry. Poems will be recited both in-language and in English.

Canapés and refreshments served on arrival.

We are proud to present the MC for this event is DEFNE.  DEFNE is a queer Turkish-Australian multidisciplinary artist with a style that’s definitely hers. She graduated with distinction in a Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing & Theatre) & Fine Arts (Photography & Graphic Design) from UNSW in 2023. DEFNE is the Creative Producer for Word Travels and Creative Director of the hybrid West Side Poetry Slam. The world is her runway as she overruns it with shared vulnerability – which she will by performing in-language.

An open mic opportunity in the evening is also available for audience members near the end of the evening!

We look forward to welcoming you there.
