MUM CHA - Farah Celjo (SBS Food) & Shaun Christie-David (Plate It Forward)
Event description
Colombo Social’s monthly long-lunch series, Mum Cha returns with its third edition this August. Plate it Forward Founder and CEO, Shaun Christie-David
and his mother Shiranie will cook alongside SBS Food's Farah Celjo and her mum on Saturday, 31st August.
Sharing their much-loved and cherished family recipes and stories, there will be plenty of laughs, fun, and food as both mums share their experiences of raising (and cooking) for their children in Australia, along with the funny, foreign foods they encountered in their new home.
Experience a live cooking demonstration by Shaun's mum, Shiranie, showcasing her culinary expertise. Farah Celjo and her mum will also delight us with their family baklava recipe, as well as other delicious dishes like Burek and stuffed cabbage rolls.
Mum Cha is a monthly celebration, dedicated to the incredible women and mothers that inspire others around them. The event invites the wider community to come together over a set menu, to share childhood stories that reminisce their collective love of food in the home. The gatherings enable participants to discover and savour delicious meals, forge connections, and create new memories, by honouring the significant role that food and family play in shaping their lives. This communal experience highlights how food acts as a bridge, bringing diverse individuals together to celebrate shared experiences, and build lasting relationships.
Every month, Shaun and his mother Shiranie will cook a 8-course meal alongside an Australian personality within the hospitality, sports, music or fashion arenas, and their mother. Each collaborative menu will represent a fusion of cultures and dishes, that both mothers want to share with the community, in an intimate setting comprised of 40 seats. In addition to the elaborate menu, the ticket will include a welcome cocktail, and unlimited, premium red and white wines for the 2-hour culinary escapade.
