MUM CHA

Mum Cha will come to life as a monthly celebration, dedicated to the incredible women and mothers that inspire others around them. The event invites the wider community to come together over a set menu, to share childhood stories that reminisce their collective love of food in the home. The gatherings will enable participants to discover and savour delicious meals, forge connections, and create new memories, by honouring the significant role that food and family play in shaping their lives. This communal experience highlights how food acts as a bridge, bringing diverse individuals together to celebrate shared experiences, and build lasting relationships.

The inaugural Mum Cha will welcome acclaimed Australian chef and television host, Dan Hong(Executive Chef behind Sydney’s Mr. Wong, Ms. G’s, and MuMu) and his mother Angie Hong. The menu will showcase a combination of Sri Lankan dishes from Shaun and Shiranie, and signature Vietnamese dishes from the Hong’s. 

ON THE MENU FOR SERIES 1

Shaun and Shiranie Christie-David: 

• Shiranie’s signature Dhal Sandwiches.

• Patties - A Sri Lankan empanada filled with spicy beef & potato served with house made hot sauce.

• Cutlets - A Sri Lankan style croquette with tuna, mustard seeds & curry leaves.

• Cheeseburger Pan Rolls - In honour of Dan Hong (the Lankan spring roll, panko crumbed spring rolls).

• Vietnamese style Lemongrass Beef Kottu Roti with Pandan & fried curry leaves.

Dan and Angie Hong: 

• Mini Sugarcane Prawns.

• Fresh Rice Paper Rolls with tofu, mushrooms, bean thread.

• Fried Chicken Spring Rolls.

• Green Papaya Salad with dried shrimp floss, black sesame rice crackers.

Every month, Shaun and his mother Shiranie will cook a 10-course meal alongside an Australian personality within the hospitality, sports, music or fashion arenas, and their mother. Each collaborative menu will represent a fusion of cultures and dishes, that both mothers want to share with the community, in an intimate setting comprised of 50 seats. In addition to the elaborate menu, the $150 ticket will include a welcome cocktail, and unlimited, premium red and white wines for the 90-minute culinary escapade.
