Event description

CONFIDENCE BOOSTING KYUP! POWER COMING TO ARNCLIFFE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BAYSIDE COUNCIL!

Calling ALL mums and daughters, ages 8 and up!

Join us for another empowering, action-packed 4-week workshop led by award-winning martial artist, Mel Thomas! Learn personal safety tips and simple self-defence techniques that any woman or girl can master, regardless of size or skill. Through fun, hands-on activities, Mel will guide you through real-life scenarios like navigating public transport, social events, and everyday situations. This safe and interactive experience is all about setting boundaries, building confidence, and responding to conflict with ease!

Participants learn to:

  • Replace fear with confidence
  • Trust their instincts and make smart choices
  • Use the power of their voice to defuse dangerous situations
  • Get away from a situation that doesn’t feel right
  • Fight back when needed
  • Break the cycle of violence

Friendly Reminders:

  • Registrations are open to those who live, work, study, or have a significant connection to the Bayside Council area.
  • Participants are welcome to register for any of the workshops individually or register for all four sessions.
  • Participant eligibility: This workshop is designed for mothers and daughters or female carers and their female relatives (e.g., grandmothers, guardians, or sisters). Individual registrations without a paired partner will be discouraged from participating in the workshop.
  • Physical Requirements: Due to the hands-on nature of the activities, participants will be required to work with a known partner throughout the session.
  • Health and Safety: If you have pre-existing injuries or health concerns, please consult a healthcare professional before registering, as this workshop involves physical movement.
  • Attire and Hydration: Participants are encouraged to wear tops with sleeves for comfort and ease of movement and to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.
