Muse Presents RENT
Description
Set in the East Village of New York City, Rent follows a community of artists over the course of a year as they struggle against the AIDS epidemic, a housing affordability crisis, and addiction - sustained only by their love for each other.
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of its Broadway debut, RENT is as groundbreaking as ever, putting a community on stage that is as diverse, raw, and queer as the artists who portray them. The music rewrites the playbook for what a Broadway musical should sound like, with an authentic rock score and instrumentation to match. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Rent has become a pop cultural phenomenon. with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences across generations. This is theatre at its best – exuberant, passionate and joyous.
We would like to commemorate those who lost their lives during the AIDS crisis. Many suffered silently.
See our amazing alternate cast take on their leading roles on Friday night! The couple seats closest to the walls on either side have obstructed view of a corner of the stage.
