Museum Collections Management: Professional Development Short Course

This course focuses on the management of museum and art collections. Students will be introduced to the practical skills needed for best practice collection management as well as the history, philosophy, ethics, and legal requirements underpinning such practices. Working closely with local museum staff, students will have the opportunity to hear from industry experts and experience collection management in practice. 

You will gain:

  • An understanding of the key concepts and practices associated with collections management within a museum or art gallery setting
  • Demonstrated skills relating to the care, storage and display of objects and artworks
  • An understanding of the key tools available to museum professionals to assist with collections management
  • Skills to evaluate the history, ethics, and legal implications of collections management.

Cost: $2200 (inclusive of GST)

Please note: This course is run in conjunction with MUSEUM7001 Museum Collections Management at the University of Adelaide and is not available online. Upon completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement from the South Australian Museum.
