Step into a day of discovery, creativity, and hands-on heritage at the Redlands Coast Museum Open Day. Perfect for families, history lovers, and curious explorers of all ages, the Museum will be buzzing with activity from morning to early afternoon.

Kids Adventure Zone
Young visitors can follow the magical Fairy Door Scavenger Hunt, searching for 8 handcrafted fairy doors hidden throughout the Museum. Behind each door, a native Australian animal is waiting to be discovered!
Children can also enjoy traditional old-fashioned games and a dedicated nature craft area, using leaves, twigs, and natural textures to create their own take-home masterpieces.

Live Demonstrations & Heritage in Action
Watch sparks fly during live blacksmithing demonstrations and explore the “Our Forging History” exhibition showcasing traditional craft and storytelling.
Enjoy demonstrations from the Sewing room and Spinners & Weavers as heritage skills are brought to life right before your eyes.

Guided Tours & Museum Stories
Join our friendly volunteers for guided tours through the collections, uncovering hidden stories and unique objects from the Redlands’ past.

Special Displays & Experiences

Redland Model Railway Club displays featuring Thomas the Tank Engine and friends in action
Theatre Redlands showcase with information on upcoming productions and how to get involved
BDARS radio display exploring how communication connects communities
Rotary Heritage Library open access to historical records and archives
BVRC Vintage cars and agricultural machinery on display adding a nostalgic touch

Food, Fun & Atmosphere
Enjoy classic treats from the old-fashioned lolly shop, plus a sausage sizzle and café offerings available throughout the morning. Relax, explore, and soak up the atmosphere as the Museum comes alive with community spirit.

The Redlands Coast Museum exists to collect, preserve, honour, display and share the rich history of artefacts and stories of the people of the region, and our diverse culture and heritage. We aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Redlands Coast’s past, create a sense of belonging, and provide an engaging space for learning, connection, and community involvement.

What began as a volunteer-led project to save farm equipment, has grown into a vibrant, community-driven institution showcasing over 50+ years of local heritage.
