Join experienced forager Rob for a 2½ hour walk through the forests of Emerald. This workshop is for anyone curious about mushrooms, whether you’re a complete beginner or are already foraging for mushrooms.

This workshop focuses entirely on observation and learning. There will be no picking or collecting mushrooms to take home. Instead, we’ll get up close, examine a wide range of fungi, and build your identification skills.

While we can't guarantee we'll find every species listed below, we'll learn to identify whatever we discover along the way. We’ll explore edible and medicinal mushrooms, species to avoid, and some of the fascinating traditional and practical uses of fungi.

Whether your interest is foraging, ecology, photography, or simple curiosity, this workshop will help equip you with the skills to observe fungi safely and confidently in the wild.

Mushrooms we may encounter

Saffron Milk Cap, Lactarius deliciosus
Slippery Jack, Suillus luteus

What to bring:

Sturdy footwear suitable for uneven forest terrain
Insect repellent (leeches are present in some areas of Emerald)

Children: Kids are welcome to join the fun! Please ensure they are closely supervised by an adult. While all mushrooms are safe to touch, they are not all safe to eat. Kids under 16 attend free of charge when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents/ guardians are responsible for their children throughout the event. There are a limited amount of kid's tickets.

Dogs: For the safety of your furry friends, we kindly ask that dogs do not accompany us. The presence of toxic mushrooms in the area can pose a risk to hungry pups. Service dogs, however, are always welcome.

Accessibility Note:
The walk is conducted at a slow pace, but please note that the ground in the forest is uneven. Unfortunately, this particular location is not suitable for wheelchairs or walkers. However, if you use a walking stick, you might be able to manage comfortably.

If you are a wheelchair user or have a disability that might prevent you from joining this tour, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly. We'd be more than happy to organise a private foraging workshop in a more accessible location. Your participation is important to us, and we’re committed to making foraging inclusive for everyone!
