Description

Mushroom Masterclass

Step into the wild world of fungi—where science meets curiosity and every specimen tells a story.

This immersive, hands-on workshop is a full sensory dive into mushroom identification, designed to ignite your curiosity, deepen your knowledge and maybe even spark a lifelong obsession with fungi.

You’ll learn the key features used to classify and accurately identify fungi, and how to differentiate a prized edible from a deadly doppelgänger.

Along the way, explore the surprising cultural histories and ecological roles of fungi, from ancient traditions to modern science.

Bring along your own finds for real-time identification, get up close with our diverse specimen table, and sharpen your observational skills in a supportive, interactive environment.

Morning tea will be served (please provide dietary requirements). SEE Change tickets are subsidised. Join here.

About the Presenter: Alison Pouliot is an ecologist and professional environmental photographer who has worked at the interface of the science of fungi and public education for three decades.
