The Music Man Jr
Event description
Ovation Theatre are delighted to present one of Broadway's all-time favourite shows, The Music Man and we're super excited to bring you a special Junior edition.
The Music Man Jr. is a condensed, youth-friendly version of the classic Broadway musical The Music Man.
The story takes place in the small town of River City, Iowa, in 1912, and centres on Harold Hill, a fast-talking con man who poses as a travelling band leader. His plan is to sell band instruments and uniforms to the townsfolk, promising to organise a children’s marching band, but he has no intention of ever teaching them music. His scheme depends on getting the town’s money, but trouble arises when Harold falls in love with Marian Paroo, the local librarian and piano teacher, who is skeptical of his intentions. As Harold gets to know the townspeople, including the shy, introverted children he promised to teach, he begins to question his own plans and whether he can follow through with his deception.
Through humorous and heartfelt moments, the story explores themes of community, redemption, and the transformative power of music.
Filled with iconic songs like “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Goodnight, My Someone,” and “Ya Got Trouble,” The Music Man Jr. is a fun and upbeat musical for audiences of all ages.
Running at 60 mins this is the perfect family show for kids of all ages.
