    Event description

Get a taste of music therapy in this four part series of experiential sessions with Kate, a Registered Music Therapist and Director of Mind Body Music Therapy.

No musical experience or "talent" is required - just a curiosity or interest in music and your health.

Join in one, some, or all of these workshops to learn about how music can support your wellbeing.

Please note: Due to the nature of these sessions, we won't be able to explore individual needs/issues in depth. If you need a more supportive environment (either individual or group), please email info@mindbodymusictherapy.com.au to find out about other options to engage with music (e.g. closed therapeutic groups, individual support).

Week 1 (3rd Feb, 10.30am-12pm): Music for Relaxation & Mindfulness
This session will include a guided relaxation, listening to music, and drawing/discussing our experiences.

Week 2 (10th Feb, 10.30am-12pm): Music for Social Connection
This session will include musical games, group singing, and sharing about meaningful songs.

Week 3 (17th Feb, 10.30am-12pm): Music for Mood and Stress Management
This session will explore practical ways to use music for managing mood and stress, including developing playlists to use in your daily life.

Week 4 (24th Feb, 10.30am-12pm): Singing for Wellbeing
This session will explore ways to use singing for joy, self-expression and mindfulness.

    FAQ

How many people will be in the workshop?
This workshop is capped at 12 people per session. This session is for adults - please get in touch for upcoming events for children & teens.

    Do I have to sing?
No. You don't have to sing if you don't want to (even in the singing session!) You're very welcome to see how you feel in each session, and explore the activities in whatever way feels best for you.

Do I have to be experienced with singing or playing instruments?
No. Importantly, the focus will be on how the activities feel rather than how they sound, and many people do find the confidence to sing and make music in this low-pressure environment even if they haven't before.

Do I need to bring anything?
You don't need to bring anything, but you might like to bring a bottle of water to ensure you stay hydrated throughout the session.
