Music Victoria 2023 Annual General Meeting
Event description
As part of our governance requirements as a Not-For-Profit Incorporated Association, each year Music Victoria holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The AGM is where we are required to report to you, OUR MEMBERS, on our activities and financial performance from the previous year. It is here:
- that we present to you our Annual Report
- that we share our Audited Financials (covering 1 July 2022 – 30 June 2023)
- where you can vote on who should join our Board of Directors
- where you will also be asked you to vote on a special resolution to make amendments to the Music Victoria Rules of Association (“Rules”).
The proposed special resolution is set out here and the complete changes proposed to the Rules can be accessed here.
The main intention of the proposed amendments to the Rules is to address items that have been queried at past AGM’s and for which the rules did not provide definitive clarity. The proposed changes consolidate the way in which Music Victoria has interpreted the previous rules and acted at past AGMs. The proposed changes are to be clear that only natural persons can be Members and that the Board can set the membership fee (if any, noting that it can be $0). Beyond this, the other proposed amendments are minor adjustments to more accurately reflect Music Victoria’s operations (e.g. if a member's subscription fee lapses, they will be downgraded to the free membership).
In 2023, the Annual General Meeting of Contemporary Music Victoria Inc. ("Music Victoria") will be held:
- on Tuesday 5th December 2023
- online via Zoom AND in person at the Music Market
- starting at 6pm sharp.
All current members of Music Victoria are encouraged to register to attend the AGM (below).
You can also find out more about Music Victoria governance and the role of a Board Member here.
SIGN UP TO BE A MUSIC VICTORIA MEMBER TODAY
We will be in touch with Member closer to the date regarding the voting processes (including what to do if you can’t make it on the 5th), and we look forward to your involvement.
Sincerely,
Kerry Kennell

Music Victoria acknowledges the Traditional Owners of so-called Victoria, on whose unceded land we advocate, support and celebrate on. We pay our deep respects to Elders past and present, and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and communities. We acknowledge them as the first artists, the first musicians, and the first creators of culture. We deeply respect the role that music and songlines play in the continuation of their culture for the past 60,000+ years.
