Musical Bingo - Erasmus Family Fundraiser!
Event description
When our friends need our help - we do what we do best and organise a PARTY to raise funds!
Mark Erasmus and Michaela Beattie’s 4-year-old daughter, Roxie, fell and hurt her leg in July this year. After an X-ray and some tests, the doctors discovered not only a fractured fibula but diagnosed Roxie with Stage 3 Burkitts Lymphoma. The family of four (18-month-old Audrey as well) flew to Adelaide within 24 hours to commence chemotherapy, abandoning their Wulagi home, employment with the government and hospitality, school and friends (made over the last 12 years of living in Darwin) to cater for their daughter's needs.
As the family have been concentrating on supporting each other through this ongoing crisis the Darwin community has stepped up to raise money to cover mortgage repayments, car shipping, hospital bills, rates, temporary accommodation and a multitude of other life costs so the Erasmus’ don’t put an ounce of time or energy into something we can help with. Their beloved Irish Community have been wonderful supporters with the aid of a GoFundMe for ongoing household costs!
This event, Musical Bingo (https://facebook.com/events/s/erasmus-family-fundraiser/400562821700401/), has the intention of raising money to help bring the family back for Christmas as well as cover some quarantine costs for Mark and Michaela’s mothers who (after months of appealing to the Irish and Australian embassies under compassionate and compelling grounds) have been permitted to fly to Australia to be with their grandchildren and children.
