Auckland world-fusion musicians Matt Reece and John Goudge, take you on a unique Musical Sound Journey.

What to expect:

Welcome to the Button Factory – Central Auckland’s creative space for art, music and dance. Matt and John will immerse you in a fusion of instruments from all around the world, while you are surrounded by artworks.

1.  The Elements:  First, you’ll be invited to get comfortable and stretch out with your ears. Musical Sound Journey will take you on a trip inspired by the elements Air, Earth, Fire, Water, and Ether.  Matt and John have crafted a soundscape, encompassing our planet and beyond.  It features indigenous instruments, sound effects, ambient dreamscapes, and delicious beats.

2.  Food:  Then we’ll stop for shared food (free-of-charge) to refuel for the energizing music to come. Take time to look at the art exhibition that graces the Button Factory walls.

 3.  You Can Dance if You Want To:  Time to break out more organic beats and grooves.  Matt and John let their hair down with luscious original dance tunes merging synthesizers with world flavours. Feel free to dance or relax, your choice. 

It’s long been known that music can induce a state of relaxation good for stress relief and health.  What better way to celebrate the coming of summer?

Matt Reece is a long-time student of instruments from around the world, including overtone flutes, kalimba, ngoni (African harp), taonga puoro (traditional Māori instruments), didgeridoo, and percussion.

John Goudge has been a singer/songwriter, composer, and musical director for nearly four decades. As part of Musical Sound Journey, he fuses sound effects, synthesizers, guitars, and voice with world music.

We won’t ask you to contact spirit guides, or speak to aliens..

We won’t ask you to meditate, do yoga, or breathe thru your belly..

And we don’t expect you to stand on one leg, uncurl like a fern frond, or vibrate at a harmonic frequency.

We won’t even demand that you are thankful, joyous or relaxed.
