Event description

Ever wondered what a music producer really does, or how to get the best out of your next studio session? Join us for Producer Talk, a special panel discussion unpacking the art and craft of music production from two industry experts.

Thursday December 4

SAE Adelaide, 15–19 Franklin St, Adelaide, Kaurna Yerta, fully accessible venue
Doors 5:30pm - Panel 6:00–7:00pm - Event ends 7:30pm

Open to both artists and producers:

For producers: Gain insight into practical tips and tricks, learn how to get the best from a session, and compare approaches between our guests, Bethan Maddison and Paul Pilsneniks.

For artists: We’ll demystify the producer’s role, break down the differences between a producer, recording engineer and mix engineer, and share advice on how to collaborate effectively and manage expectations in the studio.

Meet the Speakers

Bethan Maddison
Bethan is an Adelaide-based producer, recording and mix engineer with over a decade of experience across the city’s indie, pop and alternative scenes. A proud SAE graduate, she has worked in many of Adelaide’s iconic studios, most often at Mixmasters, and now coruns her own space, Pretty Good Studio. Passionate about mentorship and community, Bethan supports early-career engineers and producers while continuing to shape the sound of Adelaide’s next generation of artists.

Paul Pilsneniks
With over 25 years in the industry, Paul is one of Australia’s most experienced and versatile producers and engineers. From managing Studios 301 in Byron Bay to engineering for artists like Powderfinger, Boy & Bear, silverchair and Dope Lemon, Paul’s career spans genres, continents and countless sessions. A former Grammy and ARIA voting panelist, he continues to work across Australia and internationally as a freelance producer and engineer.

Keen to come along? This panel is free to attend, with strictly limited spots, RVSP to secure your spot!
