Event description

Introducing Australia's first Muslim Women's Festival... By Muslim women, for Muslim women.

This jam packed opening night is not to be missed. We will kick off the evening with a speed networking session followed by a screening of Sereen Omran's short film "Towel Head", musical performances by Lamisa Haque and Anindya Rachmani on the Qanun and then the "Sisters Slam"  -- a curated hour of passionate poetry performances (full list of performers below). The event will culminate in a reading by Amani Haydar of her bestselling book, The Mother Wound.

The event will be catered by Sunday Kitchen (halal, of course!) and the performances and reading will be AUSLAN interpreted. Tickets are strictly limited.

The Sisters Slam will be MC'd by festival founder and director Sara Mansour and feature: Manal Younus, Sara Saleh, Iman Etri, Hawraa Kash, Amani Mahmoud, Nahida Hafza, Zainab Syed, Ela Pinar, Leila Mansour, Adrian Mouhajer, Aishah Ali and Zena Mak.

The full program can be viewed via this link.

Please note if you are booking concession tickets, a valid concession card will be required to be produced on arrival.
