My Creativity: Building Communication, Confidence & Wellbeing Through the Arts
Description
This in person only practical session explores the role of the My Creativity curriculum in supporting children and young people with SEND to express themselves, build confidence and engage meaningfully with the arts. Participants will explore the four key artistic disciplines of Traditional Arts, Performance Arts, Contemporary Arts and Applied Arts, and consider how creative experiences can support communication, emotional wellbeing, self-esteem, physical development and cultural identity.
Through hands-on activities, discussion and reflection, staff will examine the barriers that some learners may face when accessing the arts and develop strategies to create inclusive, accessible and empowering creative opportunities. The session highlights how the arts can provide a voice for learners, promote personal expression and nurture a sense of achievement, while ensuring that all pupils can participate, create and succeed in ways that are meaningful to them.
This module has been accredited by the NCFE and can be considered when working towards the NCFE Award. Participants are required to complete five modules, including the mandatory module.
