In this class, students will learn how to cook some lovely Indian vegetarian dishes that were the teacher’s mother's favorites. She will bring everything necessary for the demonstration and we will end with a reasonable tasting portion of the finished dishes. Feel free to bring something to drink.

Mona Yethiraj was born in Kerala, India, grew up in Mumbai and now splits her time between Tennessee and winters in Alta. Over the years, she has been a trained classical Indian dancer, a research scientist for 25 years, and a ski instructor at SnowBird for nearly a decade. More recently, she has promoted environmentally responsible gardening practices (tnyards.utk.edu/festival) and is a pottery maker (ceramyx.com). Cooking has been a major part of her life through it all - starting with making the Indian flatbread rotis for her family’s meals as a child. In this presentation, she will demonstrate and demystify a couple of her favorite Indian recipes.
