Description

The My Voice, My Rights, My Way project delivers collaboratively designed workshops which teach self-advocacy skills. These skills empower consumers to confidently advocate for themselves, and to better navigate the mental health system.

The workshops assist participants in identifying the key barriers they face in the mental health system, and to provide them with resources to build knowledge and get a clear path forward.

Workshops also offer peer networking and peer mentoring opportunities. They are designed and delivered by people with their own lived experience of mental health challenges.

FAQs

  • Where are the workshops held?

The workshops are held in the Serpentine Jarrahdale Library. The first photo shows the front entrance. When you go inside you need to find the multipurpose room which is at the back of the room. If someone isn't around to ask, just walk to the back of the room and look in the door. There will be a sign, so you know you have found the right room.

  • Where can I park?

There is a large carpark next to the library to park your car, an accessible bay next to the entrance if you need it and racks to park your bike you are riding there.

  • Can I bring a support person?

Support people or workers are welcome!

Please let us know in your form in the access needs section if you have a support person signing up separately from your order.

  • Can I just turn up?

You're welcome to come along without signing up, although it is handy for us to have a heads up of numbers coming on the day and have your contact details in case there's a change to the group time. You can also email Wendy directly if you're prefer to not sign up and just give us a heads up. Wendy's email is wendy.murphy@sjshire.wa.gov.au

  • What should I bring?

You don't need to bring anything.

If you want to you can bring a pen and paper, a water bottle and some snacks to eat.

The facilitator will have everything you need and will bring some biscuits and fidgets if you need them.

  • Do I have to come to all of them?

No, you can choose to come to as many as you like.
