Description

This is a FREE two-hour art workshop for high school students being run by the talented artist Aksara Harriram, No previous experience required.

Join artist Aksara Harriram, the creative force behind her art series Surreal Estate, for a vibrant journey into the mind’s eye. An extension of her art practice is creating an immersive experience through the Floating Suburb Project which is community driven and invites participants to think about their vision of future cities. Aksara believes that the way we move through our world should be inclusive, energetic, and ever-changing. How do you get to where you want to be? Together, we will map out our travels, track our distances and record the way we move through different environments. Using drawing and a variety of textures, participants will create an ‘active path’ that captures the unique feeling of your journey through those spaces.

There is an art competition "I heart my way to school" being run by City of Newcastle that you may enter with your artwork. This is also an opportunity for you to possibly:

  • Take time out of your busy study schedules and/or social life to be still and contemplate something different

  • Learn a new skill that you won't be judged by or tested on

  • Show the world how beautiful it is to ride a bicycle or catch the bus

  • Start a constructive conversation about e-bikes

  • Express yourself at a time you might be feeling frustrated

All art supplies will be provided

You are welcome to come with your own ideas and reference material (photos etc.).
