With Alchemistic Fungi

Mycofiltration is the use of mycelium as a membrane to filter micro-organism, pollutants and silt. Bryan & Mikaela from Alchemistic Fungi will be deep diving into the realms of regeneration with fungi!

Join us for the opportunity to learn simple low tech methods to regenerate and restore vibrancy to our lands. This workshop will be theoretical and practical based to grasp a greater understanding of fungi’s unique mechanisms. We will be implementing of a plant-fungi design around a damn on a beautiful property in upper main arm. The day will begin with a smoke ceremony and invitation onto the land with Bundjalung elder Bronwyn Bancroft. An excellent way to ground into the space before we get our hands dirty.

During this workshop you’ll get the opportunity to…

- Create Earth bags with King Stropharia & Oyster mushroom mycelium

- Learn simple low tech methods for pasteurising substrate (mycelium’s food)

- Understand the basic behind how fungi grow and fungal cultivation

- Learn the theory behind how and why fungi are an incredible ally for regeneration

- Practical implementation of plant-fungi design around damn edges.

- An example and understanding of several methods to remediate and filter water with the use of fungi

- General understanding of fungi in ecology

- Fungal species to pair with filtration of target pollutant/microorganism

Fun Fungi snacks and drinks will also be provided.

The funds from this workshop are going towards four water tests, one before and three after design implementation. The testing will take place at Southern Cross University. Additionally our dear friend Katelyn will be filming the workshop to help spread the important message of regenerating Patcha Mumma through the use of fungi. We aspire to prove concept and implement many more mycofiltration regenerative designs around the northern rivers to clean up our waters!
