Mycology May Fungi Workshop
Event description
Join in the fun this Mycology May, and delve into the intriguing world of fungi, in this free, interactive two hour workshop.
Did you know that some fungi can glow in the dark, and that the largest living thing on Earth is a fungus? They are also vitally important to food production, soil health and biodiversity.
The workshop will begin indoors at Lithgow Transformation Hub, with an introduction to types of fungi, how to identify them, and how to get involved in fungi citizen science. This will include the opportunity to examine a range of locally collected fungi specimens, and to ask questions of local fungi experts. We will then venture to a nearby outdoor location to search for fungi and put what we have learned into practice.
Morning tea will be provided.
Children are welcome, but all children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
This event is proudly brought to you by Lithgow Oberon Landcare in partnership with Maldhan Ngurr Ngurra Lithgow Transformation Hub.
This project is being partly funded under the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program which is an initiative of the Commonwealth Government- National Recovery and Resilience Agency.
