The Shape of Thoughts
An exhibition of inner experience
The Shape of Thoughts is an interactive free exhibition exploring what we carry inside — thoughts, emotions and experiences we rarely share.
Blending art, psychology and data visualisation, the exhibition creates a space for reflection, curiosity and connection.
Through a series of installations, you’re invited to contribute a thought, image or colour, becoming part of a live visual environment shaped by everyone who takes part.

The Shape of Thoughts is designed and directed by Jess Leondiou. Her work has been stocked by MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) and QAGOMA (Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art).
Jess created The Shape of Thoughts through her work at Archleys, where she has spent almost a decade using writing and reflection to help people better understand themselves and shift the way they think. The exhibition invites people to pause, respond, and see how private thoughts and feelings can become part of a shared visual experience.
Jess will be at the exhibition each evening to welcome you, answer questions, and help guide your experience. If you’re curious about journaling and reflection, this is a chance to practise, take part, and explore the ideas behind the work. (learn more about Jess and her previous work here)
Thanks to the MLAI community for supporting the project.

FAQs

The exhibition is designed to be flexible. You can spend 15–20 minutes for a shorter visit, or up to an hour if you’d like to move through the full experience, including the writing prompts, reflections and interactive elements.
- Do I need to arrive at a specific time?
No. You’re welcome to arrive at any point during opening hours and move through the exhibition at your own pace.
- Is the exhibition interactive?
