Myrtleford | Alpine Rural Directions Strategy
Event description
We are preparing an Alpine Rural Directions Strategy to protect valuable rural land. The Strategy will guide how rural land will continue to be used and developed in the future.
To help us develop the Strategy, we have developed an Issues and Opportunities Paper to identify several challenges and opportunities around rural land use in Alpine Shire. The Paper focuses on selected rural towns, small settlements, and rural localities as identified in our Alpine Land Development Strategy. The purpose of this Paper is to start a conversation with rural landowners and users to help us understand your needs and priorities.
The Paper will feed into the Strategy, which will:
- Identify and protect areas of agricultural and landscape significance;
- Guide high level future land use and activities for rural settlements;
- Identify locations for existing and emerging rural employment;
- Identify ways to support growth in the rural economy; and
- Review existing rural planning controls and propose changes as needed.
Community members can help shape the Rural Directions Strategy by filling out a survey, joining both in-person and online workshops in July, or putting forward a written submission to our Strategic Planning team.
