Event description

Myth-making through Performance: A Masterclass with Amy Russell

An exploration of myths through movement, improvisation and story-telling.

Six Mondays: 1st November to 6th December
5.30pm-7.30pm
$145 / $109

Myth-Making is an integrated Gestalt-Jungian approach to creativity through the methods of embodied performance. Taking as its point of departure the Gestalt tenet that awareness and creativity are the ways in which the human personality develops and adapts, Myth-Making integrates a Jungian approach to myth, suggesting that mythic scenarios reveal growth points and transformational opportunities through their narrative structures.

During the course of this workshop, we will explore the embodied performance practice central to Myth-Making. This physical form of active imagination allows us to participate fully in mythic structures - narratives and relationships - and through somatic awareness and creativity, provides us with the agents of change.

Sessions 1 - 3: Intrapersonal Myths

In these sessions, physical and creative exercises and themes will invite participants to generate, explore, play with and transform personally held mythic structures.

Sessions 4 - 6: Group-level Myths

In these sessions, we work individually, in dyads and with the whole group to explore and transform the myths that we hold together, which can structure our relationships and identities.
