Social Stories: MyTime Online
Event description
Social Stories
MyTime OnlineÂ
About this event
Social Stories help prepare children with autism and disability for new or challenging situations, events and activities. From supporting a child to understand and cope with changes in routines such as a new class teacher, preparing for unfamiliar or stressful experiences such as doctors appointments, to learning new skills such as how to ask for help. By presenting information in a supportive and meaningful way, social stories can increase a child's confidence and reduce anxiety in various scenarios.
Joining us at MyTime is Kyleigh Garden, parent and speech pathologist, who will discuss social stories, who can benefit from them, what they involve, and to share some practical resources for creating your own social stories at home. There will be an opportunity to ask questions, hear what is working for other families and share what is working for your child.
This event is facilitated by Bree
Bree is a mum of two children. Her second child Dax was born with Congenital Cytomegalovirus (CMV). She has lived around Australia before settling on the south coast of NSW with her family.Â
Bree and her partner Mitchell love the outdoors and will always find a way to include Dax in their adventures along with their daughter Dylan.
Who is this event for?
MyTime is for parents and caregivers raising a child with disability, developmental delay or Autism.
During a MyTime session, there is a guided discussion and a space to connect with other families. These discussions offer an opportunity for parents and caregivers to share and learn from each other.
