Who are Ellinikes Fones?
The Greek singing choir Ellinikes Fones was established in Brisbane in 2021 by Greek born conductor and musical director Christina Xydi-Lignou, vocalists Katerini Manolatos and Mel Lathouras and producer and pianist George Lignos. Proudly connected to their Hellenic heritage this team of talented musicians are determined to help preserve and elevate Greek language and culture through Ellinikes Fones.
With the backing of the Greek Orthodox Community of St. George, Brisbane and with a committee of enthusiastic volunteers behind them they aim to take Ellinikes Fones to great heights.
Although in their infancy they have already attracted the attention of Greek super star Dimitris Basis, Australian- Greek conductor George Ellis and Greek media outlets from around Australia. Every Wednesday evening the Greek club is bustling with excitement as the members of Ellinikes Fones choir meet, mingle, sing and build life long friendships.
