Not Another Disco Party.
UNDR Ctrl presents a brand-new summer disco party @ The House of Music & Booze, launching on Saturday 14th January with heavyweight selectors Frank Booker (NZ), Close Counters, Mike Who, Clashé and Cleo.
Frank Booker is widely regarded as NZ’s most respected disco disc jockey. He’s released wax on tastemaker labels Razor-N-Tape (USA), Wonderful Noise (Japan), Disco Deviance (UK) and Sleazy Beats (Netherlands), with a debut album set to drop in 2023. Booker has played all over the world alongside the likes of Moodymann, DJ Harvey, Gilles Peterson and Folamour and was even picked by Prince (RIP) to DJ at his private party when he visited Aotearoa back in 2016. A true master at work, Booker’s DJ sets are nothing short of legendary and it’s no wonder he counts the likes of Todd Terje and Tim Sweeney amongst his biggest fans.
Close Counters have had a BIG 12 months. The duo have been busy in the studio crafting the follow-up to their 2018 SOULACOASTA album – a feel-good record paying homage to the history of dance music with rare samples and nods to house, boogie, breaks, and more. The first two singles ‘SNAP TO IT’ and ‘GET DOWN!’ were released through iconic UK label Defected Records (The Remedy Project) in October, and their next single is right around the corner. CC’s collab with Young Franco ‘Rollout’ featured on the FIFA 23 soundtrack and they’ve slayed live performances at cult festivals Let Them Eat Cake, Meredith and Strawberry Fields in recent times.
There’s crate diggers and then there’s Mike Who. The Planet Trip Records boss has been a shining light and driving force for Sydney’s dance music community for many years now. He’s the DJ’s DJ with unrivalled taste, and selections of the highest order. Get ready to boog.
Clashé and Cleo complete this stacked lineup for the NADP launch. Clashé’s reputation is growing fast with regular guest spots at Motorik warehaus parties, Byron Bay tunnel raves, Club 77 basement sessions and their Hotel Harrys residency. Likewise Cleo has been poppin’ up all over town from Lost Sundays to Nomad Radio to Lost Paradise. Be sure to arrive early, and stay late.
