"Naghsh-e Khial" is an intimate concert for Persian ney and voice, inspired by the poetry of Hafez, one of the greatest figures in Persian literature.

The program journeys through a range of emotional and expressive landscapes within Persian classical music, beginning in Mahur and moving through Esfahan, Homayoun, Shur, Dashti, and Nava, before returning to its original atmosphere of light and openness. The title Naghsh-e Khial draws from the world of Persian poetry and visual imagination, where image, sound, and spirit are deeply intertwined. Through Hafez’s poetry and the expressive voice of the ney, the performance creates a living musical canvas - exploring themes of longing, beauty, love, and inner transformation.

Kianoush Khalilian - Ney
Kianoush Khalilian is an award-winning Ney player and composer based in Toronto. A disciple of master Hassan Nahid, he has performed internationally across Asia, Europe, Canada, and the United States, appearing at major festivals including the Toronto Jazz Festival and Rencontres musicales de Conques (France). He has collaborated with ensembles such as the JUNO Award-winning Constantinople, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and the Canadian Arabic Orchestra. Milad Khajehnezhad - Avaz (Vocalist)
Milad Khajehnezhad is a Persian classical vocalist (avaz) based in the Bay Area, dedicated to preserving and expressing the depth and nuance of Persian musical tradition. He has trained extensively in the radif repertoire under Alireza Shahmohammadi. He has performed alongside renowned tombak player Pezhham Akhavas and collaborated with prominent composer Pejman Taheri, resulting in the release of two Persian musical works (tasnif).
