NAIDOC Week 2025 - Kaarla Kaatijin Theatre Performance by Yirra Yaakin
Event description
Kaarla Kaatijin (understand fire) will use Noongar knowledge and storytelling to deliver traditional stories about fire in an exciting and engaging way.
Come on a journey into the lives of Djitty Djitty (Willy Wagtail), Kulbardi (Magpie), Yonga (Kangaroo) and many more familiar friends as they explore the importance of Kaarla (Fire).
Stay after these sessions for some light refreshments provided by Gather Foods and a yarn.
Suitable for audiences aged 5+ Kaarla Kaatijin is a fun, interactive and educational play, that gives students a glimpse into the cultural significance of the places in which we live.
Bookings are essential. Priority will be for City of Vincent residents.
The Vincent Community Centre is a wheelchair accessible venue.
