NAIDOC Women’s Walk with Aunty Karen Denny
Description
Join Karen Denny, a proud Ngunawal Woman and Landcare ACT for a meaningful cultural gathering designed specifically for women and children. This special walk offers a unique opportunity to connect with Ngunawal Country and learn of its women's places.
Guided by Aunty Karen, participants will be introduced to Ngunawal knowledge, traditions, and stories that have been shared across generations. The walk will be gentle and reflective, with several stops along the way for storytelling, learning, and conversation.
While we are walking, we will also be caring for country - please bring a few plastic bags with you and we will clean up any rubbish we find along the way.
This gathering is an opportunity to listen, learn, and ask questions in a respectful and supportive environment. It also acknowledges the long and enduring connection of Aboriginal people to the Canberra region, where people have lived and cared for the land for at least 25,000 years.
In keeping with cultural traditions, this event is open to women and children only.
