Jimi Akwai Nare Ramosaea is a Solomon Islander living in Bacchus Marsh… and he’s bringing his reggae band, Namrock House to The Coolroom at The Northern Arts Hotel

Meet Namrock House, a unique band from the Solomon Islands now making waves in Melbourne. With eight talented islanders who have called Australia home for over 20 years, Namrock House brings a fresh blend of island reggae, Solomon Island folk songs, and reimagined country and rock hits.

Their live performances, often featuring collaborations with artists like Charlie Mamorossi, showcase their dynamic fusion of reggae with other genres. From their recent Natty D tour around Melbourne to regular gigs at the Bacchus Marsh Strawberry and Cherry Festival and Relay for Life, Namrock House is a staple in local and Pacific Island celebrations.

Their shows aren't just about music—they're a vibrant cultural experience that bridges the Solomon Islands with Melbourne.

Catch Namrock House to experience a musical journey that celebrates the rich heritage of the islands while blending seamlessly with Australia's diverse soundscape.

The Coolroom at the Northern Arts Hotel, located at 359 Barker St Castlemaine, is a place for a melange of musical experiences – jazz, folk, classical, experimental, cool pop, western, Americana, and other event-based performances in an active listening, quiet room atmosphere. It’s also a place for friends and strangers to come together to share a secret film screening or talk. There are also other events, workshops and talks and Festivals that find home in our dedicated and flexible space. Recently we are proud to be involved in the Castlemaine Fringe, Castlemaine Jazz and Castlemaine Pride Festivals. We also host regular events by groups such as Castlemaine Free University, Maine-ly Ukes, Celtic Song Circle, Guildford Folk Club, and PoetiCas.

We hope you’ll join us in the relaxed, convivial atmosphere.
