Nanchok Santino Chol - Artist Talk
Event description
Join artist Nanchok Chol and her collaborators for a screening of their short film, and a discussion about her exhibition She Will. The film will screen in the Performance Space, before we take the discussion to Gallery Two. Nanchok will share insights into the intentions behind She Will, the challenges and disappointments in creating during COVID, and question how, as a South Sudanese person, she might consciously navigate what it means to be living and creating on Stolen Land.
Nanchok Santino Chol is emerging artist, curator and writer living and working on stolen Wurundjeri Land. Nanchok’s multidisciplinary practice is rooted in curating intentional art that aims to amplify identities, stories, culture and spaces within community. Nanchok is a South Sudanese woman who draws inspiration from her heritage, upbringing and digital archives. Nanchok believes that digital archives are a focal medium within her practice as she aims to document a new interpretation of the past, future and present.
