Back of House Tour: Te Papa Nancy Adams Collection (12-1pm)
Event description
Join curators from the Botany and Art teams at Te Papa for a back-of-house tour of the archive of Nancy Adams.
Nancy Adams (1926-2007) was one of Aotearoa’s most notable phycologists and a talented artist. As well as being a prolific seaweed collector, Adams drew and painted an incredible number of botanical illustrations, and wrote popular books on New Zealand seaweed, trees and flora.
Adams lived in Wellington for her whole life. In this back-of-house visit, you'll look at seaweed specimens that Adams collected in the Wellington region, alongside the artworks that she painted of local seaweeds. You will explore her connections to this place, and her important contributions to our understanding of Wellington’s seaweeds.
Tours restricted to 12 people maximum- register to secure your spot!
