Wake In Fright is a Tarntanya-based art folk band. Their songs incorporate influence from folk and pop to merge past and present sensibilities. Sam Wilson, the band’s songwriter, singer, and guitarist, has committed himself to the practice of songwriting and says this of the group:

“Every musician I play with I have the deepest faith and love for, so if I’ve done my job right and the song is as good, or as evocative as it can be then I know they’ll know what do with it.”. In furthering this idea, Sam opts for emotional directives over technicality when it comes to arrangement, saying, “I’d rather ask for something to sound more anxious or forlorn than to talk about specific notes.”.
