Discover Napier Port: A Behind The Gates Bus Tour Experience

Back by popular demand after last year’s sold-out inaugural tours – join us this October for a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes at Napier Port.

Hop aboard the iconic Hawke’s Bay Express and take a guided one-hour tour inside one of New Zealand’s busiest ports. You’ll hear directly from Napier Port employees as they share insights into our day-to-day operations, how we help keep Hawke’s Bay moving, and what it takes to connect our region to the world.

What to Expect:

• Tours run for approximately one hour (return trip from pickup location)

• Hosted by Napier Port employees and run in partnership with Hawke’s Bay Express

• Pick-up and drop-off is at the Hawke’s Bay Sports Fishing Club (Nelson Quay, Ahuriri) – with toilet facilities and parking available

Ticket Prices:

• Adults: $10

• Children: $5

All ticket proceeds go to Nourished for Nil, a registered Hawke’s Bay charity rescuing surplus food and distributing it to the community for free. (Note: A small ticketing platform fee is deducted; Napier Port covers all event costs separately.)

Tour Dates:

• Friday 17 October

• Sunday 19 October (new this year – making it easier for families and shift workers to attend)

• Tuesday 21 October

• Tour spaces are limited and expected to fill quickly

• If your preferred time is sold out, you can join the waitlist

Important Notes

Napier Port is a Martime Security and Customs Controlled Area (CCA), and we require you to provide a photo ID (Driver Licence or Passport) to our security team before boarding the bus for those 16 years or older. Those under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Unfortunately, you will be unable to board the bus if you do not have the required photo ID (Note: Digital or photocopied IDs will not be accepted).

Please note, there is no wheelchair access for this event.
