Attracting thousands each year, the multiple award winning Narooma Oyster Festival celebrates South Coast NSW oysters and the region’s natural clean quality produce, chefs, and rich artistic and cultural talents.
Held on the first weekend of May every year, this festival has gathered the attention of foodies, chefs and global media - so come and see what it's all about!Â
The Festival combines cosmopolitan gastronomic experiences with family entertainment.Watch the shucking competition, taste a selection of oysters from all of our local estuaries and fine foods from around the region - while taking in the views at the Festival’s stunning location at Wagonga Inlet, Forster’s Bay. There's live music, regional wines, craft beer & cider to taste and entertainment for kids all day.

Picnic vibes and sunset skies! Bring the picnic blanket and join us for Rock Oysters and South Coast produce while the sun sets over Wagonga Inlet. Groove to The Guitar Case Troubadours and Chloe Kay and the Crusades, thanks to Club Narooma. Try fantastic rock oysters from the Narooma Rocks Oyster Bar and market stalls and settle in for the fireworks at 8.30pm. It’s a fantastic vibe that’s earned a reputation for being an unmissable night! Free for accompanied children under 16.

A huge day of tastings and exploring the foreshore. Pack a picnic blanket and leave room for market treats! Explore
Oyster Alley to taste from multiple estuaries, see Australia’s Biggest Oyster (1pm) and the Australian Shucking
Championships (3pm) with world champion oyster shucker Stephen Nolan. Courtney Roulston heads the cooking program
with amazing chefs like Colin Fassnidge, Corey Costello and Kelly Eastwood. Plan to leave the car at home, there’s a
free shuttle bus around Narooma and ticketed coaches operating between Merimbula and Batemans Bay. There’s live
tunes all day with The Sunbears, Dust and Echoes and more. Free for accompanied children under 16.
Sydney Royal Ultimate Oyster Experience
Saturday, May 7 | 4 sittings | $125
A transformative tasting experience showcasing some of the best oysters from the 2022 Sydney Royal Aquaculture Competition. Hosted by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, with farmers and Sydney Royal judges, guests will explore different oyster species from four estuaries, including the rock, pacific and angasi, before unpacking the merrior associated with their unique environments.Â
Sessions run for around 50 minutes and by the end you’ll understand the importance of shucking your own and be an expert in the five pit stops of flavours – the oyster tasting bible. Guests are offered a glass of sparkling wine on arrival, with matched wine or craft beer included with each tasting. Saturday General Admission tickets are also required.Â

Champagne and Oyster CruisesÂ

Board the Wagonga Princess for a one hour Champagne and Oyster Cruise on the famous inlet. Glide by oyster farms and the festival fringe while you enjoy oysters grown in the inlet, local cheese and biscuits and a piccolo of champagne or a craft beer. Built in 1905 of Huon Pine and sporting whisper quiet solar electric engines, this is a delightful way to explore the inlet and festival fringe.Â
Cruises leave from within festival grounds and a Saturday General Admission ticket is required.
Narooma Rocks After Party

A new event, the Narooma Rocks After Party will be a relaxed way to farewell the festival for 2022. Set in a luxe pop-up on the grassy foreshore of the inlet, the After Party will have live tunes, small and large bites and braziers to keep away the autumn chill. Guests receive a complimentary drink on arrival, with small and large bites flowing throughout the evening. The Narooma Rocks spitfire bar will be offering a range of craft beer, NSW wines and limited cocktails for purchase. Â

Southern Phone Rock Oyster Lounge

There is no better way to enjoy Narooma Oyster Festival than with exclusive access to the Rock Oyster Lounge. The lounge is an adults only space on the waterfront close to all the Festival action. Think delicious locally sourced snacks by Kelly Eastwood (Eastwood's Deli and Cooking School), three complimentary drinks and a private bar with a lounge area to recharge, rest and refresh in between festival experiences. Australia’s Oyster Coast will pop up regularly to dry shuck oysters especially for you. It’s the ultimate chill-out zone.Â
