About the Book:

Painting the Light reveals how Berthe daringly broke barriers both in her art and personal life. Marrying at the "old" age of 33, after establishing her artistic reputation, she achieved the seemingly impossible-successfully balancing her career with marriage and motherhood in an era when such choices were unthinkable for women.

Though she created over 850 magnificent works in her lifetime, Berthe remained her own harshest critic, constantly striving for perfection. This inspiring story celebrates a woman who refused to stay within the lines and made no apologies for her ambition, ultimately becoming one of the most important female figures in art history and a key innovator in the Impressionist movement.

Painting the Light is the perfect book for young readers interested in art history, women's achievements, and stories of perseverance against all odds.
