Shaping the Future of Aquatic Facilities in Australia
Royal Life Saving Australia, on behalf of the National Aquatic Industry Committee, is thrilled to announce the National Aquatic Infrastructure Symposium 2025 – a key step in developing a national framework for aquatic facility infrastructure provisioning across Australia.
Australia’s public aquatic infrastructure is at a critical juncture. With over 40% of facilities nearing the end of their lifespan this decade, we must embrace innovative, equitable, and sustainable solutions to meet the needs of communities nationwide.
This two-day symposium, will unite senior industry leaders, architects, planners, policymakers, academics, and drowning prevention experts to co-develop a vision for the future of aquatic facilities – ensuring every community has access to a great local pool.
Key topics include:
- Addressing aging infrastructure and infrastructure gaps
- Investment and sustainability models
- Equitable access for regional and underserved communities
- Framework development for facility provisioning
Event Details:
- Date: Thursday 27th and Friday 28th March, 2025.
- Time: 9:00am-5:00pm (AEDT).
- Location: Life Saving Victoria, 200 The Boulevard, Port Melbourne.
The Symposium objectives are to:
- Provide a forum for Industry, Government, education, private sector and academia to collaborate, discuss and investigate the issues and solutions surrounding the planning, delivery, operations and upkeep of Australian Aquatic Facilities.
- Present research, policy and practice that aim to provide insights and address the issues.
- Facilitate setting a collective agenda, developing action statements and working towards the development of a National Aquatic Infrastructure Framework
- Engage, collaborate and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders
- Support the AWSS 2030 priority areas and key activities
Who should attend:
- Leading architects and consultants who work with the aquatic sector
- Industry executives and leadership, product managers
- Senior representatives of peak associations
- Senior government representatives with remit sport infrastructure planning and/or funding
- Leading academics with an interest in these topics

Registration includes:
- All morning and afternoon teas and lunches during the program

- A ticket to the networking social function on Day 1 - Thursday 27th March 2025 (RSVP is required for catering purposes and can be provided during this registration process)

Cancellation Policy
Substitution:
- If your circumstances change and you can no longer attend the event, you are welcome to nominate a substitute to attend at no additional cost by Friday 14th March 2025
Cancellation:
- You are entitled to a refund if the cancellation is received on or before Friday 14th March 2025.
- However, refunds will be processed with a A$50 service charge applied per person of cancellation.
- Cancellations received after Friday 21st March 2025 are not eligible for refunds.
- Any cancellation or substitution requests should be made in writing and directed to info@rlssa.org.au
