HOW CAN WOMEN RISING TRANSFORM OUR RESPONSE

    TO CLIMATE CHANGE?

A CALL TO THE WOMEN OF AUSTRALIA

The Women’s Climate Congress calls the women of Australia to a National Congress of Women. Together, we will lead a movement for a collaborative national plan on climate change — a plan that will bring the nation together and restore care for the Earth and nurture of life to the centre of all of our actions on climate.

This three-day event will include deep conversation and learning, authentic connection and community building, artistic expression, collaborative action planning and interaction with elected representatives. It will build on a series of conversations with women from all over Australia hosted by the Women's Climate Congress during this year.

The National Congress is an opportunity to participate in building a women’s movement for change on this urgent global issue and to bring your voice to the public declaration and action plan that we will produce at the conclusion of the Congress.

OUR INVITATION AND OUR APPROACH TO FEES

We warmly invite all women, from all walks of life, to this nonpartisan event - and this includes those who may have limited capacity to pay the full fee.

COVID restrictions currently limit our 'in person' numbers to 180 people, so if you are interested in face-to-face attendance please register early. Online attendance is also an option for those who prefer not to travel.

There are significant costs to running a national congress, including venue hire, catering, audio-visual systems and livestreaming, and we want the congress to pay for itself.

The Congress is run by volunteers and in our financial decisions we are considering equity, cost-effectiveness, environmental impact and other Women’s Climate Congress values. We are operating from the principle of: 'offer what you can and ask for what you need'.

You decide what is within your capacity to pay. If you can, we invite you to offer a little more via donation to support other women to attend. If you experience economic disadvantage, we invite you to pay the lower supported fee, or if that is too much, to have a conversation with a member of our hosting team (see below) to work out a way to get you there.

Similarly, if you are unable to attend for the full 3 days, please contact us to discuss options.

    FEES AND INCLUSIONS

We offer the following rates as a guide for you to consider your contribution.

    • Full fee - $350 (with a 10% discount for inaugural Congress members - those who donated in our first year)
    • Generosity fee - $600 (to help another woman to attend)
    • Supported fee - $175
    • Online only fee - $90

For face to face attendees these fees include:

      • morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea each day
      • an evening social event 5.30-7.00pm on 29 November
      • a breakfast with invited politicians on 7.30-9.30am 30 November
      • a reception 5.30-7.30pm on 30 November.

While these events are included, please indicate on your registration whether you will attend for catering purposes.

We also plan to include some artistic performances throughout the Congress which may be separately ticketed. More details will be provided as we confirm these arrangements.
