National Gumbo Week - 3 FREE GUMBO SOCIAL EVENTS!

National Gumbo Day (October 12, 2024) is the official celebration of Gumbo!  Gumbo Social is celebrating October 9, 10, and 11 with three free events each day PLUS a bonus Gumbo Discount Day on Saturday, October 12 from 11-8.

We hope you can join us for one, two, three, or all four! RSVP for FREE! 

Gumbo Social is self-funding this event. We appreciate your support and food and merch will be available for purchase at the events! If you are able to and so inclined, consider contributing as an event supporter to help us cover event costs (see the ticket details for more info).

Day 1 - FREE Gumbo Fireside Chat at African American Arts and Cultural District

October 9, 2024, 5:30-8 PM

At 5:30 PM-6:30 PM, attend our FREE FIRESIDE CHAT about Gumbo, Black food culture, and the African Diaspora with Mr. Gumbo of Gumbo Social, Chef Wanda of Wanda's Cooking, and Chef Christina Alexis from the Pleasure Principle and moderated by Jeff Hunt of Storied SF. We will be serving some free light refreshments. The talk will take place at the SF African-American Arts and Cultural District.

After the talk until 8 PM, come next door to Gumbo Social for a gumbo menu pairing with wine from Ayaba Wines and desserts available at an additional charge.

Day 2 - FREE Gumbo Cooking Demo by Mr. Gumbo

October 10, 2024, 5-8 PM

Demo session 1 starts at 5 PM, demo session 2 starts at 6:30 PM. 

Enjoy a FREE GUMBO COOKING DEMO and presentation by Chef Dontaye Ball aka "Mr. Gumbo". Learn the secrets behind the perfect roux, spices and seasonings, special ingredients, and techniques to make a darn good bowl of gumbo.

Before or after the demo, enjoy a gumbo menu pairing with wine from Ayaba Wines and desserts available at an additional charge.

Day 3 - FREE Gumbo Tasting Event and Party!

October 11, 2024, 4:30-8 PM

Enjoy a FREE GUMBO TASTING EVENT and PARTY to celebrate National Gumbo Day! Chicken & Sausage, Smoked Turkey, Vegan and two BRAND NEW GUMBOS! 

Vote for your favorite new release and the gumbo with the most votes will become a part of the Gumbo Social Menu. 

Featuring special guests, music, and more TBA!

Additional menu items including full-size gumbo portions plus wine from Ayaba Wines and desserts will be available at an additional charge.

Day 4 - Bonus Gumbo Discount Day!

October 12, 2024, 11 AM - 8 PM

BUY ONE A GUMBO GET ONE FOR 50% OFF (equal or lesser value)! This offer is good for all available varieties and sizes including our selection of 32-oz take-home frozen gumbos! Frozen gumbos are perfect to reheat and share with your friends and family.
