Join us for a profound evening of truth‑telling, leadership, and reflection as we welcome June Oscar AO to the Reconciliation Memoirs stage.

A proud Bunuba woman from Fitzroy Crossing, June Oscar AO is an Indigenous rights advocate, community health and welfare champion, filmmaker, and former Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission (2017–2025). Her leadership continues to influence national conversations on justice, women’s rights, language revitalisation, and community empowerment.

Through an in-depth conversation, June will reflect on her life’s work, the challenges and triumphs of advocacy, and the future of reconciliation in Western Australia. Her story adds to a powerful written legacy captured by author Victoria Laurie, whose series of five memoirs is becoming an essential record of the reconciliation movement in WA.

This event marks the next chapter in the Reconciliation Memoirs series, an enduring legacy project that began during National Reconciliation Week 2022. Across five years, the series has honoured the voices of influential reconciliation leaders, including Fred Chaney AO (2022), Dr Richard Walley OAM (2023), Carol Innes AM (2024), and Father of Reconciliation Patrick Dodson (2025).
