National Symposium on Farmers' Mental Health & Wellbeing
Newcastle City Hall
Newcastle NSW, Australia
Description
Living off the land is very rewarding for many Australians; however, it can also have a negative impact on their mental health. Suicide rates are higher than the general population and non-farming rural males. With farmers being more likely to suffer from depression caused by financial pressures and isolation.
The Foundation is aiming to bring together all the Farmers Federations in Australia for a discussion on the mental health services available, and how to reduce the impact of drought.
